Quick Illustrator tip…

When using gradient opacity masks, the mask will not go fully opaque unless the black swatch of your gradient is in RGB mode.

Default for gradients is Grayscale mode:

To fix this, double-click on the black swatch, then click the dropdown in the top right of the box that pops up. Change the mode to RGB.

    SMAP FTW ! you rock.

    This has been confounding me for quite some time. I notice if doc colour setup is CMYK, and the gradient is greyscale, the resulting mask _looks_ 0% opaque, but importing into Pshop, or exporting into PDF or similar.. the opacity returns like a my own personal nemesis. Thanks heaps.
